Hunting deer in Wisconsin can be challenging, and fun at the same time. We made it out on some public land to do some deer drives and kicked up a few whitetails in the process.
I was able to harvest a nice 8 point buck with some tines that were busted up, and Matt kicked up a doe that he was able to get a shot on.
Deer hunting isn’t always a sit and wait game. Sometimes you need to get them moving by doing some small pushes, which was a key to our success during the 2014 Wisconsin gun deer season.
Good luck out there fellow hunters!
I was thinking of focusing my hunting and scouting efforts during bow season on public land on west shore of bay and northern kewaunee co. / so. door co. Do you have much experience on these properties?
Stick to any kind of edges…hardwoods/willow brush or willow brush/ cattail edges. The deer will transition from the hardwoods to the willow brush to the cattails as their last place of refuge. Even early on in the season some deer are already out hiding by the cattails if it isn’t to wet.
